After wacking her face on the fence, Maggie realized that she only cut the inside of her lip and had a bloody nose (as well as bruised ego, lip, and some other small abrasions). We collected our thoughts and made our way to the edge of the Theodosian Walls, walking along them towards the river.
We reached the river and decided instead of working our way to the Eyup Camii (large mosque away from the walls) to head back to the hotel and freshen up. We walked, and walked, and walked for a few miles. Maggie really had to go to the bathroom, but we could not find a place to stop. We reached the Fener Ferry dock, and it was not open yet and no bathrooms were available.
Maggie was desperate, so we made haste towards a bar about half a mile away. The bar was built literally into the side of the city walls that faced the river. After relieving ourselves, we sat down for some Efes and a snack. Maggie decided to have Rice Pudding flavored with saffron.
When it came out, some ground nuts were on top. Rex and I tasted them and they were walnuts. Maggie took a bit of the pudding and started to have an allergic reaction to what we think may have been peanut oil in the pudding.
She didn't have any meds with her other than benedryl, so she popped 50mg to stop the reaction. We then walked/slurred back to the Fener ferry for the ride back to Eminonu. Here is Rex and Maggie (who is stoned) on the ferry back.
So ... Tuesday came and went. We saw a Cistern, took a ride out to the walls to see the Chora Church, Maggie smacked her face on a fence and had an allergic reaction to peanuts. So it was a day of highs and lows, and hopefully things would get better for us the next few days.
