Ahhhh .... The end of Wednesday

Rex, Bridget, and Maggie

Whew, Wednesday was a lot of everything. We saw the Basilica Cistern, tried to get into Aya Sofia and after looking at the queue, rode the tram to Eminonu, visited the New Mosque/Yeni Camii, walked around the Spice Bazaar to the Rustem Pasha Camii, met up with Alex and walked through the Spice Bazaar and fringe of the Grand Bazaar, met up with Bridget and walked to the Suleymaniye Camii (only to find the Tomb of Suleiman was closed), went inside Suleymaniye Camii and the Imam's private library, saw Sinan the Architect's tomb, visited a cadrese (school) in the Suleymaniye Camii complex, walked across the Galata Bridge to Beyogle, rode the elevator to the top of the Galata Tower, and stopped for food and beverages at a Spanish restaurant in the shadow of the Galata Tower.

Whew - that was a lot in one day.

So ... after the Galata Tower we needed some food and a place to relax. One of the first places we crossed was a Spanish restaurant, and Maggie was excited for the empanadas. We ordered several tapas/mezes and some Efes (brand of Turkish beer). One tapa/meze was nachos. In the States, we think of nachos as corn chips with salsa, black beans, salsa, cheese, and sour cream. Maybe some guacamole and either beef or chicken.

We received a load of Doritos and guacamole - not what we were anticipating. We still enjoyed them, nonetheless.
