Maggie outside the State Pen (instead of inside, as usual)We convened in the lobby and talked about where we wanted to hunt some ghosts. We named the usual spots mentioned on the tour: Cafeteria, North Block solitary, R.G.'s death spot, medical ward, the Sugar Shack, and "The Undertaker's" cell in South Block.
BTW - there was no heat outside of the main lobby. In other words, it was cold as ... HELL ...
First off was the cafeteria, where during the tour I had a bad feeling and really wanted to leave the room and go outside. The feeling was akin to being watched and not welcomed, like when you go to a party of someone that you are at odds with and they look at you from across the room - not a pleasant feeling.

So we gathered some chairs into a circle near a column at the center of the room and waited for some sign of life. I put my camera into video recording mode, and set it on a separate chair to see if any "EVP"s or Electronic Voice Phenomenas made it onto the recording.
Maggie took this picture (actually, the second time we went to the cafeteria) of us huddled together.
So we waited, and tried to remain silent. After about 1 minute of banter, we started to ask questions ... the reality is you are asking questions to an open space that no one is responding to, at least, no one that you can hear. And after about 20 seconds, you start to feel like a douche.

Needless to say, we weren't contacted and left in about 10 minutes. We went outside towards the Wagon Gate, which served as the original prison while those interred built the current structure.
The Wagon Gate wasn't particularly interesting (or haunted). But it was bathed in a green light, which made the entrance look like a gaping mouth, screaming at you from across the yard. But the one thing that really tied in the strangeness of the entrance was the Pepsi machine located in what would be the left lower molar region of the "mouth". Why ... why ... why ... there is nothing like seeing a soft drink dispenser to totally kill the mood.

We proceeded down into the basement that housed the shop area - the site of R.G.'s brutal death. We started in the room where the attack took place. We turned off all of the flashlights and recorded the experience in complete darkness. We couldn't stay quiet for more than 10 seconds without laughing or making some type of smart ass comment. If anyone knows something about psychology, I'm sure there is some type of human behavior that makes people talk or express themselves when immersed in a very uncomfortable situation. That is how we felt: uncomfortable.
About 10 minutes passed - no one touched the arms of the girls and I emerged with no scratches on any exposed skin (which would have been my immediate face around the nose because it was cold as fuckall in there). We left, and decided to go to the Sugar Shack underneath the South Block - it was warmer there (nice incentive) and supposed to be "hot" with activity. That's when things became really interesting .....
