Carrots are chock full of beta-carotene, a precursor to Vitamin A. A common belief is that eating carrots will improve vision, as a deficiency in Vitamin A affects ocular development. During WWII, eating carrots were thought to improve night vision.
Either way, the irony in this story is why I posted its link: carrots (among other things) can cause blindness.
