Dispatches from Derby

A few random thoughts that you might find amusing:

I've always wondered what a "git" was ever since that supposed insult was leveled at one of King Arthur's knights in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. "You mangey Scot's git!" Well according to my friends at work, git is basically a slightly less offensive version of "bastard." Kind of a letdown if you ask me.

The food here is horrible. No, it is not a stereotype - it's reality. Consider yourselves warned; your only salvation is an Indian restuarant.

Binge drinking here is somewhat of a problem, so they've raised the tax on fags, beer, and liquor. Unfortunately, there is not that much to do around here but drink - so the "sin tax" essentially equates to an increase in the cost of living for people with still-functioning livers and lungs.

You know you've been here too long when you see an American TV show and think, "why is that car driving on the wrong side of the road?"

You're staying in Derby? Then it would be correct to say that the food sucks in Derby. What else do you expect? It's grim up North.
